A proteges of Kawakubo, Junya started his own label under the umbrella of Comme De Garcons in 1992. He inherited conceptual sensibility immediately visible in his collection.
Junya joined Comme De Garcons as a pattern cutter after graduating Bunka Fashion College, Tokyo, in 1984. He launched his own label in 1992 and made his runway debut in Paris the following year. Today, Watanabe's designs are celebrated for their exceptional tayloring and innovative fabric history, streetware and uniforms.
