The Azores Deep-Sea Research (ADSR) group is on a mission to make deep-sea exploration more widely accessible. The team of marine scientists has developed the revolutionary Azor drift-cam, a small, low-cost device which can dive to 1,000 metres below the ocean’s surface to gather crucial video evidence of life on the sea floor. Supported by the Rolex Perpetual Planet Initiative, this innovative high-resolution imaging system is changing research in the deepest parts of the ocean – and shaping how to protect them.
