Based on the novel by Cornelius Ryan. The true story of "Operation Market Garden," a World War II, allied offensive against the Nazis that was designed to capture key military positions in Holland (including several bridges) in the hopes of ending the war in Europe by Christmas of 1944. Despite the heroism of allied forces the offensive failed disastrously.
