Hot dogs are having a moment in Austin. For years, people would text or email me to ask where to find the best dogs in Austin, and I usually had a few spots to suggest. Now there are so many that not only could I make a list of the 10 best, but there are 10 more that I’d happily recommend that didn’t even make the list. And the hot dog train is not slowing down — chefs Laura Sawicki (formerly of Launderette) and Mike Diaz (formerly of Oseyo) are planning Horn Dogs, a bar with a hot dog-centric menu behind Hole in the Wall, slated to open in the fall. Truly, a golden era for hot dogs in Austin.
