The Cost Of War

The ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine has resulted in one of the most catastrophic death tolls in recent history. It is estimated that close to 300,000 soldiers from both sides have been killed or injured since the war erupted over a year ago. Yet, with each passing day, an influx of resources, troops, and machinery perpetuates the relentless cycle of violence. Against this grim backdrop, VICE News’ Ben C. Solomon sets out to expose the human cost of war in Ukraine by embedding with soldiers, medics and volunteers to understand the physical and emotional toll it takes on those who are directly involved in fighting it.
