The Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup is synonymous with excellence and ranks among the most impressive events on the yachting calendar. Organized by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda (YCCS) in collaboration with the International Maxi Association (IMA), it offers crews a spectacular race setting in the emerald waters of north-east Sardinia, with varied conditions and testing courses. Extreme winds restricted racing in this year’s edition but the patience and perseverance of the crews and the race committee made it possible for a spectacular conclusion, with good weather for competition on the final day. Leopard 3 from the Netherlands made history by winning the first Rolex IMA Maxi 1 World Championship. Taking the honours in the other classes were: Proteus (Maxi 2), Svea (Supermaxi), Oscar 3 (Maxi 3), H2O (Maxi 4) and Gaetana (Maxi Multihull). In 2024, Rolex and the YCCS are marking the 40th anniversary of their partnership, a part of the brand’s long-standing support for yachting dating back almost 70 years.
